Blankies, the Play Group Scoop, and the Top 5 Sexcuses. Hilarious, wise, and full of empathy, The Diaper Diaries helps new mothers maintain the one thing they can't survive without-a sense of humor. Cynthia Copeland, a mother of three, knows the real poop--figuratively and literally--on being a new mother, and she has the wit, skill, and generosity to share it. Illustrated throughout with the author's wonderful cartoons, The Diaper Diaries chronicles the first year of motherhood, from the hospital stay (nominees for the world's worst labor coach anyone?) to baby's first birthday and contemplating the unimaginable--having another. There are lists, quizzes, timelines, charts, and real-life stories. Birth announcement faux pas. Names and nicknames and what they really mean. Pacifier tales. A guide to Nana-speak. How a 4-mile car trip can take 2 hours. Why it's impossible to get to work without finding spit-up or rice cereal somewhere on your clothing. Ten reasons to be happy you're up at 3:15 a.m. And, with Mr. Phrenology-like illustrations, a section on the new mother's brain before and after baby, featuring: The Travel Section (Then: How to flirt your way into first class. Now: How to sweet talk your jogging stroller onto the plane), And The Sex Section (Then: Exact location of G-spot. Now: ________).
This book seriously made being a new mother a little easier... easier to deal with and easier to laugh at. It made me realize that in life it's better to laugh than to cry. This book was given to me as a gift after the birth of the baby and I absolutely loved it. My husband and I would stay up (when the baby was breastfeeding) to read this book. I eventually lost it but loved it so much that I ordered 2 more copies- one for myself and another for my sister that just had her own baby. It's so good that I may just go ahead and buy a few more just to have in stock for future pregnancies (friends, family, etc.).

I was feeling anxious, because I'm pregnant with twins, and wanted something to make me relax and laugh. This was the perfect choice. I am looking forward to reading this again after completing my first year of parenthood. I'm sure I'll find it even funnier, because of all the truths it holds.
awesome book

I brought this when my son was a few months old. I wish I had found it sooner! It made me laugh so hard I had tears in my eyes. One of the stories about what Daddies do while "helping out" (holding the baby while I did some cleaning, but following me around saying "is that mommy? what's mommy doing?" the whole time) sounded JUST like my husband. I shared it with him, and he grinned and started doing it on purpose! It also made me laugh at some of the things I do, which is much needed when, as a new mommy, you worried about every little mistake you make!

I bought this book shortly after the birth of my first son. It was hilarious. I let my mom borrow it and she loved it as well. I'm keeping it because it's something I'll read again in the future, and laugh through all over again.
