The language of the mind

Just as blood DNA analysis became accepted in forensic investigation, Dr. Hodges research utilizing the "thoughtprint method" of analysis of written documents will become invaluable to solving cases. This book is very well-written and explains in detail how the subconscious mind is revealed and "speaks". A person's "thoughprint" can be revealed, just as an intuitive person can "read" behavior or verbal communication. He uses powerful examples that are understandable and beneficial to anyone interested in the study of human communication and behavior. As someone who holds a degree in Communication, reading this book was like a lightbulb coming on, pape after page. It is scientific and makes perfect sense. I would recommend this book especially to forensic investigators as another tool in solving cases.

Christian wisdom

For over 20 years I have worked with the Communicative Approach which is the basis of the Deeper Intelligence. Not once, has the material contradicted the Bible. In some cases I have treated it has helped remove obstacles that blocked people from accepting Christ as their saviour. It has also helped some people of faith have a more loving relationship with God. Well worth the time to learn about the language that the Deeper Intelligence uses to talk to us.Harold S. Schaus, Jr., M.S., DAPATwo time president of the International Society for Communicative Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy

A Must Read!

The Deeper Intelligence explains simply by examples powerful and complex psychological phenomena without intellectualization, shows how conscious feeling differs from unconscious perception, deals with "resistance" to therapy interpretations that bring healing, and even includes a chapter about the practical existential spiritual ground of the awesome unconscious mind. The book reaches out to everyone who is interested in the science and truth about the human person's potential for healing, growth, developement, and a fuller, happier life. Bravo, Dr. Andrew G. Hodges, M.D.!

Very helpful in understand others.

This is obviously cutting edge material. I found this book very interesting and applicable to my own practice of medicine. One facet of the book that helped me relates to patients giving `illogical reasons' for doing something. Dr. Hodge's treatise on this unraveled some of the conundrums facing clinicians who have to sort through a stream of seemingly contradictory statements. This book has taught me to listen to the deeper voice more intently and to allow it to speak to me in hopes of helping the patient. For those interested in understanding the most delightfully baffling creatures on the earth, this book is a must.

Dr. Andrew G. Hodges: The Language of the Subconscious

My admiration for Dr. Hodges is boundless. He has the courage to speak up in an area where most psychological professionals "hunker down" and "hush up." Freud wasn't totally wrong ALL the time. But, Dr. Hodges is probably more alligned with Jung's theories of the "Collective Unconscious" then he is with Freud. Both Hodges and Jung were unafraid to add a dimension that addresses the spirit as well as the conscious mind. We all know when someone is lying to us. When they act friendly but can't stand us. When they hate the food we've served but push it around and say it is marvelous. Dr. Hodges makes an upfront attempt to show how the subconscious "will out" for adults as well as for four-year-old children who have chocolate around their mouths and "can't remember" what happened to the cookies. It is high time a competent professional and an above- the-norm intellect did this. It should be required reading for all professionals who have interactions with others. And that is all of us.This should be studied not only by psychiatric workers but by lawyers, judges and police. At present we have too many ways of misunderstanding others and not nearly enough guidelines to help us to clearly comprehend what others are saying whether they do so intentionally or unintentionally. Let's hope we have more books from this creative thinker. And let's ignore the whiners who won't like it because it may make them a tad uncomfortable. Yes, there really are methods of understanding the language of the subconscious. And sometimes we'd be more comfortable to remain in ignorant bliss than to believe that we are NOT being understood when, in reality, we always tell on ourselves. For those who don't like the idea, a suggestion: Read it and learn it. You are going to need it. For those who do like the idea: You are in for a treat. Let's hope for more on psycholinguistics in the near future. Dr. Hodges is brilliant and courageous.
