Are you ready for a "kill"?

Senior schoolgirls Linnie and Ming, and schoolboy Jackson are feeling down. This is supposed to be one of the best years in their life, and things just aren't panning out. The main trouble is the fake people: the cheats, the liars, the put-down artists that somehow manage to push their way to the front, stealing the happiness that belongs to others. Then Linnie has an idea: the Dead Game. To 'kill' someone you have to embarrass them in public, or even better expose them for the fakes they really are. It sounds too simple. Maybe it won't work at all? But somehow the Game works too well and things get out of control. This is a novel of intrigue and action, with quite a few surprises. The author manages to combine scenes of ordinary school life with the extra-ordinary. The theme of justice is developed in some detail, with on easy answers or trite solutions given. The three main characters are given just about equal attention, with chapters written from their individual point of view. The book can be enjoyed by both girls and guys.

A Very Odd Game!

3 teenagers begin to take revenge on the peers that are doing better than them in any school classes. How lovely. They call it the Dead Game and the plan is to embarass these peers 1 by 1 in public. Each display of public humiliation is referred to as a 'hit' and the unfortunate victim is finally crossed off their list. But what they do not expect is for the Dead Game to become truly deadly, and it does.Odd kids!!But a suspenseful novel!

"The game got out of control...."

Three Hollander High seniors (Linnie, Ming, and Jackson) decide to get even with a bunch of their classmates who they consider cheaters and liars by publicly humiliating them in a secret prank called the Dead Game. At first, their hit list only contains two people--the transfer twins (Austin and Adler)--, but as the trio gets swept away in the thrill of the game, six more students are added to the list: Brenda, Karl DeBerg, John Stalley, Price, Rafe Gibbons, and Julie Clay.Linnie, Ming, and Jackson's plans seem to be running smoothly--that is, until Rafe Gibbons accidentally ends up in intensive care and Brenda falls down a flight of stairs to her death. The threesome then decide to stop playing the Dead Game before anyone else gets hurt. However, the game doesn't end for them there. Following the accidents, the remaining people on their hit list mysteriously get their payback. But if Linnie, Ming, and Jackson didn't do it, then who did? And if someone else is involved, are they next on the hit list?I thought "The Dead Game" was a pretty good, fast-paced teen thriller. The game idea for revenge was quite clever and original, although I was a little bummed about the identity of the killer. Still, worth reading if you enjoy Point Thrillers. Recommended for readers age 12 and up.

A great book! A. Bates keeps the suspension going!

The suspension is great! You'll never guess who did it!! A little creepy, but worth it.

Best Point Horror Ever!

This story is the best point horror ever! It's so brilliant! The characters are so cool (Linny totally rocks, shes so crazy) and the plot is so original. Brenda and those twins totally got what was coming to them (they were all just sooo annoying!) I can't understand why there aren't more reviews here. I have one message for all the people out there... Read The Dead Game (you haven't lived 'till you have!).
