Max must battle the terrifying Tastemaker, a deranged chef who has figured out a way to disengage people's taste buds, causing everything they eat to taste like broccoli. This description may be from another edition of this product.
My son loved this book. He thought the story was creative and fun. An evil villain makes everything taste like broccoli. It was so good he stayed up until 10:30 reading it - and I was thrilled to let him stay up past his bedtime to read a good book!

I love this book and I read all of the Zack Files. So now I wanted to read Maximum Boy and it was great! It's really funny and it has exciting adventures. I like that Max is allergic to math and that he's a regular kid and isn't good at sports. I'm going to read all these like I did with the Zack Files. You should definitely read these books because you'll like them a lot.
This is a great book for parents and kids...

I read this with my 8 1/2 year old son and we both loved it. In fact, he wasn't really much of a reader until this series came along but now he keeps reading after he's put to bed! It lead us to the rest of the Maximum Boy books, which are just as good as this one. They're all really funny, but I love that the hero is a kid who's bad at sports--what a great thing for a boy to read. All the Maximum Boy books are definitely worth recommending.
