Author Paul Anderson is the former publisher of "Perception of Vision" an incredible magazine that focused on the creative legacy of Walt Disney. Back issue are very hard to come by and very expensive. Like other I was heartbroken when Paul stopped publishing it in the early 1990's, to the disappointment of the readers. Paul's next project was even more amitous though, as he tackled one of his favorite subjects, the Davy Crockett Craze that exploded in 1955, the same year that Disneyland opened. This book has wealth of information for the fan of Walt Disney, or the Davy Crockett show. The show took off with the public in a way that no show ever had before. The song was was number one on the radio and was 6 months on the Hit Parade, the show was number one on television, and it released an onslaught of merchandising that would shock us even today in our Buy Buy lifestyle. The book is 167 pages long, and meticulously researched. The text is up to the usual intensive research by Anderson, esploring everything from the real Crockett, the genesis of the show, to writers, cast and crew, music and song composition, marketing The book is loaded with Color and black & white photos of the show and behind the scenes, the toys and merchandise, Fess Parker at Frontierland at Disneyland, and so much more. The book was published as a softcover only, but is nice and big at 11" tall. This is a terrific book for any fan of Davy Crockett, and my hats off to the author.
