A Magical read!

The Dark Plain Book Review- The Dark Plain By: Sloan St. James Sloan St. James has penned a magical story with her debut novel, "The Dark Plain." Jack Wolfe is a single father suffocating on the grief of losing his only child. He blames himself for his sons death because Connor died of a genetic disease Jack believes he passed down. Deciding he can no longer go on, and wanting to see his Aunt before her death, Jack decides to keep his promise to his son and returns to his roots in Ireland. Jack is met at the airport by Cala McCoy, a young woman who has been raised by his Aunt Kaite. Though she is not truly a Donegal by blood, she's been reared by Kaite too one day take over as head of the Donegal family. A family steeped in ancient beliefs. At first Jack and Cala get off to a rough start because the only future he can see is in the bottom of a bottle. Cala knows she has to save Jack from himself, not only for her, but to protect the entire Donegal family, but he fights her tooth and nail. Then one night he dreams of a woman named Anna, and the horror she and her husband endured 800 years ago. After that, he begins to question whether or not he wants to forgo his life. It doesn't take him long to notice that there is something familiar about Cala, a powerful draw that he cannot deny. There are things she knows but cannot tell him, not now- maybe not ever. But when you least expect it fate steps in, because its not long after he has a "realization," that he stumbles upon a young boy who needs his help, and if he gives it, it will mean the end of any chance for him and Cala to be together. Will he leave his destined love behind? You'll have to read to find out! This book has everything you could hope for, heartbreak, love, determination, ancient rituals, magic, the splendour of Ireland and of course a happy ending! St. James has written a story that proves that the power of love lasts- Forever. I give this book 4 **** stars!

Terrific Read

A great read!! More than a mere paranormal romance, The Dark Plain takes us exploring into the human heart and our reaction to losing a loved one, be it a child or elder. Talented Sloan St. James has used her considerable talent in bringing her readers something more than the genre usually encompasses. Her characters could be living next door. Their heartaches will become your own as you read. Jack Wolfe has lost the only person who made life worth living and travels to Ireland to fulfill a promise. Guilt has convinced him he has nothing more to live for. That is, until he meets Cala McCoy and life makes one of those unexpected turns. While he has succumbed to his grief, he still must deal with his relatives belief in what comes after death--will the cycle of life begin again? And as often happens, his life becomes entangled with that of another, this time a boy who must get out of the country. Something for everyone in this book. A story which will appeal and satisfy many types of readers. Highly recommended and I guarantee the characters and plot will keep you reading. You will love the setting and feel as though you've taken a trip just to visit Tirnageata, Ireland. Enjoy. A book you'll read more than once.
