A bit rushed, but satisfying

Reading this novelization of the blockbuster film "The Dark Knight" is a bit like eating fast food: it's rushed and you don't really savor it much, but it fills the void. Dennis O'Neil writes sparsely (not much character development or settings here) but the novel is all action from beginning to end, and there are connections between this novelization and the previous Nolan film "Batman Begins". I haven't yet seen the film, but now I really want to, having read this.

Awesome Book

The Book closely follows the mobvie. I Haven't Read a novel that is very close to the movie. this book rocks.

"The Dark Knight" by Dennis O' Neil.......

I've been a fan of Denny O'Neil's for years and was quite surprised that he did the novelization of the movie,"The Dark Knight". In my opinion, despite what other reviewers are saying, I think he did a wonderful job writing it. He certainly fleshed out the characters alot more to where I understand certain things from the movie alot more. Given, it does follow the script of the movie closely and Joker's character wasn't written very well in this book but the book is certainly not poorly written and unimpressive to say the least. I've seen worser adaptations (See Craig Shaw Gardner's "Batman" for that, it's almost scene for scene-word for word of the movie). People have to realize that novelizations of movies are pretty much going to follow things from the movie. A good writer will give us a little extra, as Denny has in this book. If you hadn't seen the movie and love to read, I suggest reading the book. But, make for sure you see the movie when it comes out...it's not to be missed!!

The Dark Knight

Dennis O'Neil really knows his Dark Knight and this novelization of the movie adds substance even if you've seen the movie. You discover what happened to the Scarecrow in between the two movies and other bits that extends the movie's storyline. O'Neil captures the internal thoughts of Bruce Wayne/Batman, something that a movie can't quite do. Well done for a "novelization."

Nice read for those who want that little extra before/after watching the movie

Dennis O'Neil did a good job at writing this movie novelization. It was written around Feb 2008 so it closely follows the final script. Unlike the Superman Returns novel, don't expect much more than what's shown on the big screen. No huge differences except more character development (histories are explored more in depth). The major differences from the movie are 1.) Dent's adolescent history is explored by an undercover Wayne and 2.) we learn what Scarecrow did in between both movies. Ledger's stunning Joker character was not captured well in the novel. You'll have to watch the movie for that treat! Depending on your reading speed and comprehension, you should be able to finish the book in 2 to 3 hrs (about the same length as of the movie).
