Personally love this Bible. OK, "Devotional." Interesting historical background for each section. Divided into daily readings, in chronological order (if there is a piece out of order, it is explained, such as Job--more easily understood elsewhere). The daily readings are not so long as to be discouraging, and being in order gives a better understanding of the Bible as a whole. Most Bibles are not actually in any semblance of chronological order and makes things confusing at times. This is a great way to read through the Bible with an understanding of what happened first, next and so on through the ages--how the well-known characters interconnect with others...but as a Sunday school or Bible study tool, this book is nearly unusable. If the teacher asked a student with this "Devotional Bible" to read a particular passage, the student would have to first go to the back of this Bible (Devotional), then find the Book, Chapter & Verse in the index section there--and finally find the right verses on the page given in the index. A bit tedious for classroom use.

Excellent 1-yr journey through The Bible

I have read several books that guide you through The Bible in one year using with daily readings. This is, by far, the best I've ever found. The introductions to the various sections, the organization of the topics and the translation used make The Bible teachings come alive. I recommend it for seekers and long-time believers...

Great Companion book

The Daily Bible Devotional is a great companion book to The Daily Bible in Chronological Order. If you are familiar with The Daily Bible the comments in this book and the Devotional book are not the same. The devotional book makes you think a little deeper about what you just read for the day. I have sense bought this devotional for others who too have the Bible.
