Bought for my son, but hubby stole it....

I bought this book for my 9 y/o son, because he loves to explore and invent. When my son went through it and exclained how "Awesome" this book was, my husband swooped in for a peek. My son loves the sections on Orienteering and tracking. My husband loves the experimenting and building chapters. This book has become a favorite for the "boys" in my house. I'm sure it will be a favorite in yours too.

Full of Fun for the Adventurous Boy!

I bought this along with the "Dangerous Book for Boys" for my son, who is nine, for Christmas. He actually picks up this book more often than the "Dangerous Book". It is full of easy to read "things to do" and full of illustrations. My son and his sister especially like the animal traking section. They have taken this book with them on hikes in our back woods - hoping to find some unusual wild animals (like bears, wolves, etc). Lukily for me, they will only see deer, squirrels, and turkeys. But, their imagination goes wild with this book. This book is an excellent compliment for those who bought the Dangerous Book for Boys and worth it for a child who "plays too much video games"!

THE CURIOUS BOY'S BOOK OF ADVENTURE follows the new trend of writing quirky, informative, and entertaining books for young boys that teach the essentials of finding things to do that will keep you out of trouble. Broken down into five categories -- Exploring, Hunting, Experimenting, Building, and Playing -- this handy reference guide presents 100 things to build and do that are fun for all ages. From bird-watching to fishing, from building a fire without matches to bug-hunting, from making an electromagnet to levitating a ping-pong ball, it's all there. Each of the 100 "hijinks and escapades" comes with a complete list of materials you'll need, step-by-step instructions, any applicable warnings, and a fun and interesting "did you know" section. This is a great book for boys to share with their friends and fathers, and it's actually something that could be incorporated quite well into a Cub Scout or Boy Scout troop. Most of the activities are quick and easy, and many are definitely useful. Reviewed by: Jennifer Wardrip, aka "The Genius"

Adventures, and Projects and Hijinks, OH BOY!

To quote the author, "Adventuring instincts have been dulled over the years by video games, television, and all those electronic toys that short-circuit the imagination". The Curious Boy's Book of Adventure is certainly a wonderful antidote to the electronics age. As a tomboy at heart and the 44 year old mother of an adventurous young son, this book immediately won me over with it's instructions on how to build a water balloon catapult. There are experiments, projects and hijinks of every variety. The book is easy to understand and just the right size. It's time to put down the game-boy and start making some forts, bottle rockets, slime and home-grown crystals. Fun, Fun and more fun!
