delcisiously wicked

PS Gifford is a writer of great wit and talent, and remembers that most treasured of all storytelling purposes: entertainment! Keep on eye on this writer, because he's going places and he's delivering a lot of joy along the way. Scott Nicholson Author of The Red Church

Future Classic

I had the pleasure and privilege of reading many of these stories as they flew from Mr. Gifford's ancient, spider-infested typewriter - at least, it's easy to imagine him using such a contraption, though the truth be more mundane. It's a delight to see what I consider "Classic P.S. Gifford" finally published in book form. With time, this collection will surely earn such status. From the eccentricity of "The Cucumber Man," to the claustrophobic terror of "Long Memories," you'll find plenty of variety in setting, characterization, and plot. And twists? What would a P.S. Gifford story be without them? As for the squirm factor, "The Gastronome" so disturbed me that I couldn't bring myself to read it a second time. Perhaps, among these forty-five tales, there lurks a story that will play on your own fears to such a degree. I'm honored as namesake to a couple of characters, and was pleasantly surprised my alter-egos made it into the book. If I were to tell you how much you'll enjoy reading The Curious Accounts, the statement would obviously be biased. Instead, let me say this: if you imagine Edgar Allan Poe's flair for the macabre paired with the playfulness of Roald Dahl, you'll begin to envision the unique talent of P.S. Gifford.

The Curious Accounts of the Imaginary Friend

As a collector of first editon crime and horror books, this one rates among the top of the list. This new writer is at the infant stage of a budding career that has no end. He is full of imagination, therefore the title fits the contents perfectly. It is rare for me to review a book, but in this case it is a must. My congratulations for a job well done and my best wishes to you and your career. Your book sits amongst several thousand books in my library. A terrific read.

Warped and Witty

P.S. Gifford brings a breath of fresh air to horror with suspense, adventure, gore, and knee slapping laughter. Brilliantly written! Be on the lookout for this author in the future, and know you were here for the beginning. All my best to Paul,,,,,,,,,,,,,Kimberly Raiser

Scary Tales at Their Best!

Remember how much those old episodes of Twilight Zone and Tales From the Darkside scared you? Back when horror wasn't all gore, shock and brutally bloody? Times when you could read a story that would make you look over your shoulder to make sure the eyes you felt staring at you weren't really there? The Curious Accounts of the Imaginary Friend will put you back in that era of quality chills and terror without blood soaked walls, profanity and gratuitous gore. P.S. Gifford has mastered the short story, every story inside is evidence to the fact. While reading you will feel a calm come over you as you realize you've figured out the end of the story; however, the now infamous "Gifford Twist" will come out of nowhere and leave your head spinning in wonderment. The strangest, most curious things can be found in the simplest, most mundane of situations - beware, man is capable of concealing much darkness in their souls. Above all the next time you hear something go bump in the night, you will be less afraid and more curious to discover the darkness within. One day you too might get to relay a story to the Imaginary Friend.
