Chilling and Unforgettable

I first read this book when I was 15 years old upon coming across it in a thrift store. Could not put it down. Then found the next two in the trilogy at my local library. 15 years later the series is still with me. The storytelling is heartfelt and bittersweet. Atmosphere and tone is beautifully built. Gives you a feel for the time. Like a 90's grunge/classic historical monster Gothic novel all rolled up into one. I found it deeply profound. It treats teenagers with respect and intellect. The characters come across as real people you can relate to. If you are a fan of Mary Shelly's 'Frankenstein' or cult TV shows like 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' and 'Roswell' this book series is for you. I highly recommend it. It's a great hidden gem of a story..
