I read this book a few years back. What I do recall was that it is beautiful, doesnt hold itself back and is a great great walk through decades of love between two people. It has incest but its least apologetic for the same. A very good read indeed. This was also the first book I ever read. Europe,in this book, sounds very beautiful. A must read for anyone half interested.
A glorious romp through decades of murder, shopping, and travel!

Just before Joan Collins became Alexis on TV's "Dynasty," Joyce Elbert released this delicious book on siblings, Alexis and Harry, who love each other as lovers (they don't know they're not siblings) and are separated for years, only to be reunited by chance in Paris. From there all the unfolding of schemes, murder, sexual conquests, and jewelry transfers becomes the stuff you only dream of living. With Joyce's book, you can live it! This is a non-stop ride from New York to London to Paris to Switzerland to Spain as decadent jet-setters are set upon by this crafty duo who will reunite no matter what the cost. Endless dramatic confrontations abound, from the spurt of coral buttons flying through the air to a rock-smash in Alicante. The book's jacket promises a happy ending, and it is, but oh! the people who are left in its wake. I learned a Chanel-bag full of tips for living the fine life, what precious things to appreciate, for knowing where to vacation if you have the $50,000, but most importantly, whom you can trust and why. Elbert crafted other fine "trash" novels, including "Murder at the AA" (a good homage to Agatha Christie), but this is her most fulfilling. Love means never having to say you're fake.
