Book Overview

Lavinia Taylor, who left London for the serenity of a Cotswold village, finds her life turned upside-down by the neighbor she rescues from a curricle accident. Charles Templeton may be a marquess, but she judges him as a clumsy gentleman. This once-debonair lord, however, is determined to prove himself polished enough to win her heart forever.

The Country Mouse

I recently finished reading The Country Mouse and thoroughly enjoyed it. The characters were great, especially Irene Beatrice. I have read and enjoyed all of Jessie's books but think this one was the best yet. I highly recommend it. Keep up the good work Jessie and give us more.

It Takes a Village

Miss Lavinia Taylor wanted to get away from London and Charles Templeton felt the need to rusticate for a time, so both separately end up in the same neighborhood in the Cotswolds. Poor Charles seems to put his worst foot forward whenever he is near Lavinia, but the people of the village take an active interest in the eligible marquess and in keeping him happily living there where it means jobs for many as well as a more interesting social life for others. They come up with a campaign of match-making. I enjoyed this different point of view, that of various persons in the village, reminiscent of Angela Thirkell. This was a very satisfying read.
