Top Rate Regency

This is an extremely well written, intelligent, funny, romantic, clean Regency. The author doesn't just TELL us that the heroine is witty, she actually writes some very clever dialogue for the heroine to deliver. It's a romance for the intelligent, well-read, modern woman. No swooning heroines here. It's faster-paced than Jane Austen and Georgette Heyer, but just as delightful. You get the impression that the author is just as intelligent and witty as the heroine. This is one of the few Regencys I actually purchased in hardcover and keep on my bookshelf. I've read it three times will no doubt read it again some day when I'm sick in bed and need something lively and romantic to entertain me.

A Keeper

I read zillions of Regencies. Read them and toss them--there are only three I've kept, besides those by Georgette Heyer. This is one of the keepers. Anne Guilfoyle, the heroine, is witty and brave--she loses all her money and the man she loves all in one day, and is forced to move to a small farm in Cheshire, left her by a distant relative she didn't know. She accepts her new circumstances and tries her best to learn about farming, while pining for the London life she left behind. What makes this book splendid is, first of all, the humor, second, a mature couple who get to know each other, instead of falling in love or lust at first sight.

Modern Regency

This is a regency romance for the modern woman. Independent and intelligent, our main character is not your typical swooning airhead. This is a (CLEAN!!) love story that will keep your reading through the night.

A Grown-Up Regency

This book, unlike many other (also enjoyable) books in the genre, deals with two people who are in their late twenties, early thirties, and how they move from indifference to love. It is a very sweet tale and has grown-up themes, by which I don't mean it has sexual situations but that it is a more mature tale than most. This is the first novel I've read by Fiona Hill, and it inspired me to go look for more by her.

Delightful Regency romance

Somewhere between the styles of Georgette Heyer and Jane Austin, this novel is a delightful Regency romp. Miss Anne Guilfoyle, beautiful but perhaps too witty and intelligent to marry well, finds her partner.
