Can't Be Without It

I just received 3 gift books from my husband - this was one of them - excellent! Every bulk food & product I was wondering about was listed in this book, which I now carry in my brief case for shopping & restaurant eating. I recently discovered, through a wonderful Naturopathic Doctor that I do indeed have Chronic Candidiasis & as such need to keep my carb count to under 50 gms while on the recovery. My blood type (O) also suggests a high protein / low carb food regimen for healthy living & this book tells me everything about the carbs in the food I eat and don't eat. I though I knew food pretty well but after going through this book about 10 times it seems I didn't know my food so well after all - but that is changing rapidly. This is a worthwhile investment for anyone watching carbs!

A listing of thousands of foods and their nutritional value.

Ms. Netzer has done an excellent and diligent job of teaching the average consumer how to understand the nutritional value in the foods we eat every day. She has organized the book in such a way that virtually every food, whether fresh, processed, frozen, or fast food, can be easily and quickly evaluated. The cover announces, "More Listings Than Ever Before!" These listings are displayed in an easy to read manner whether by brand name or food type. I have never seen this many foods analyzed according to calorie, carbo, protein, sodium, cholesterol, fat and fiber content. I learned a surprising number of facts regarding foods I'd eaten for years believing them to be healthy when, in fact, they were anything but healthy. Also, this book allowed me to see that there are many deceptive forms of advertising surrounding the foods we eat. While Ms. Netzer only reports the facts on nutritional statistics, her book makes it much easier for us as consumers to keep informed so as not to fall into the trap of eating foods that were advertised as "healthy." Indeed, many such foods are quite the opposite of healthy. With the information available in the book, we see that many foods currently on the market not only mislead the uninformed consumer as to a product's nutritional value, but it is evident that many food products are downright dangerous to our health. This book is educational in many ways, perhaps most importantly in the way it is used: A food pruduct is looked up, the data is available to the consumer allowing each individual to evaluate his/her nutritional needs quickly and easily. I find it easier to stay on track with my own nutritional needs after reading "The Complete Book of Food Counts." Many of my co-workers have the same dietary concerns as I do and we frequently read and compare labels in order the get to the true facts with the aid of Ms. Netzer's book. With so many "healthy eating" books around, this one is refreshingly true to its title. An excellent book, easy to read and a good one to have when going out to eat. I am grateful to Ms. Netzer for the hours she must certainly have devoted to her work. An excellent job.

Excellent resource!

After browsing several 'counter' books, I happened across this one, and I was sold. 500 pages of nothing but carb counts--an absolute MUST for anyone on the Atkin's or Zone carb diets. Broken down by brand in almost unbelieveable detail--there's something like 15 entries for refried beans! And are you having pizza at Pizza Hut? Dominos? and is it sausage? pepperoni? Each one laid out in exact detail. I *highly* recommend this book

500 PACKED PAGES -- A GREAT REFERENCE

This book is the best!!! I recommend it for use with the Atkins diet. It contains 500 full pages of listings from wine to McDonalds, nothing but carbohydrate counts... no space fillers. This book makes a wonderful reference. I thumb through it everyday, and I always find what I'm looking for.
