This colorful and compact volume provides a useful guide to the aircraft manufactured by the Axis countries of WWII, including Messerschmitt AG, Kawasaki, and Fiat. This description may be from another edition of this product.
If I had to have only one book to cover all of German, Italian, Japanese WW2 aviation, this would be it. Although small in size (10x6")it manages to cover over 140 aircraft built by the Axis in WW2. Planes from trainers to massive bombers, prototypes that never flew to famous aircraft such as the Me-109, FW -190, Me-262, Zero, Betty, you name it, it is here. Short historys of the planes, data and statistics for each, color illustrations for the majority of them, this book is a great reference. When in print, it was a bargin at $13.00. A very handy reference tool, I have used this book many times when in search of a quick fact without delving into a more comprehensive study. It can be used by modelers, although the color illustrations are small and can be limited. I definately recommend this book to all aviation fans
A great general reference book

When looking around for general books about Axis aircraft of WWII I was not coming up with many results. I found this one and was pleased with my purchase. It covers all the main aircraft and their specifications. Good pictures and drawings. It doesnt get into super detail of every plane, but as a general reference for this subject it is a good and inexpensive book to ad to the aviation library :)
The Axis force did have a great design kind of aircraft and deadly!

I am a big fan of airplane especially this one. Although British aircraft of world war II is the most favourite in design but that also the same with this serie of Axis aircrafts. Good references for my cartoon comic art and yet it's affordable.
A first class reference source.

This author's list of credits is quite impressive. He is an internationally recognised air historian, has over 20 books published and contributes to "Jane's All the World's Aircraft." In this book he has concentrated on all those aircraft employed by the Axis Powers of WW2 and, in short, he has made an excellent job of it too. Laid out in strict alphabetical order by make, each aircraft commences with a text headed "History and Notes" in which all the relevant history is covered and the numerous variations of different aircraft explained. To this is added plans and the occasional photograph. Most interestingly, instead of treating the reader to an artist's impression of a single profile example, we get several different profiles of each aircraft showing their numerous variations and livery. In the case of the Focke-Wulf Fw 190, for example, there are 10 such profiles. In my own work I frequently find myself researching whatever aircraft was involved with the sinking of a particular ship and this book gives me all the historical and technical details I could ever want. An excellent choice for those with a deeper interest in the subject. NM.
