My home will never be the same

Making the technical accessible would be a theme for this book. Although erudite in detail and expansive in scope the book still reads with the ease of a comic book. I thoroughly enjoyed this book which was a surprise because I merely wanted the information it proffered. These authors made it fun and exciting to launch my home toward the future and as they point out "Judy Jetson eat your heart out."

2.5 kids and 2.5 computers...a networked home is a must!

I thought I knew it all, but realized I hadn't a clue how to make my 2.5 computers (2 new, one old) work together to take advantage of my nifty peripherals and high speed modem line.I really liked the laid-back language and presentation. And, unlike some other similar books in this genre, the info wasn't too "dumbed down." Great mix of simple concepts w/ detailed info.I've recommended this to my mom (58 years old) and my friends (30ish)!

Informative and friendly

I thought networking was for geeks and brother-in-laws (same people). No longer. I had my old pentium and my new P2 connected in no time. The chapters I really used had less to do with my computers but rather more about the things that I could do with them after they were connected.I now have a fully functional stereo system that can play MP3's that are stored on my computer. I also tried some home automation stuff and boy is it ever easy! The Rex 2000 works great!

Funny authors, cool content

With three computers in my home I've often wondered how I could make better use of them. I never considered the fact that I could forget about upgrading my kids gaming system or even watch TV on my computer. This book has all the fun stuff in it.These guys are a gas though. I don't know what it is about Canadians, some sort of Mike Myers contagion I guess. Who would have thought that networking would relate to Sonny and Cher or the perils of the Postal Service.Buy it for the content, read it for the laughs!

I found the book informative and it opened my eyes...
