Well written basic biology book

Easy to read and understand the terms in English. Great to read before taking a bio class if its been awhile. I use it to simplify what the professor taught in class to help me grasp the terms and connect the dots. Glossary contains easy to understand definitions. Pictures are a good guide also. It is basic, yet covers more than just the basics, it helps clarify your lecture material. So glad I ordered it.

The Complete Idiot's Guide to Biology

A good introduction to biology, especially as a college biology major. I would recommend it to anyone interested. The author really cares about simplifying the concepts for anyone to read and learn.

Good Stuff

My daughter has been very happy with this. There are some parts of biology that she doesn't quite get when in class, this book and the Biology for Dummies help her understand it better.

Good book -- not a pleasure reader! This takes time.

This book is very good; even though, I found it best used as a supplement. Personally, I used several items for Biology. With that said, this book does well and serves its place nicely. It's better than many texts, but if you're a visual or spatial learner, you'll want to supplement with interactive materials, DVD's, etc. This book is fairly entertaining once you understand the language; however, it's not a pleasure reader. Don't expect to breeze through it in a few hours. It's very comprehensive covering topics from both Biology 1 and Biology 2. My favorite chapter was Ecology -- ironic, considering it's the last chapter. Most disliked chapter? Chapter 3: Specialized Cell Structure and Function. I actually found Chapters 2 and 3 the hardest to complete in the entire book. Once you sludge through those, it becomes fairly entertaining. Maybe that's just because I didn't have a biology (or science in general) background first.

wonder Book, wonderful Value

I liked the format of this book. It helped me with my college biology I and II classes. My favorite sections were evolution and ecology of course. I feel like such a nerd studying so much. Then again this book was quite needed along with Patrick Leonardi's "The Ultimate Study Guide for Biology: Key Review Questions and Answers with Explanations" This comes in three volumes with a lot of practice questions which I tested myself before my actual college bio tests. Good Luck!
