Most books on flower arranging are "coffee table books" -- full of pretty pictures but short on instruction or insight. This was the first truly useful book on flower arranging that I encountered (some 15 years ago) and it still holds its value today. It contains many good examples of contemporary and traditional designs, useful information on the mechanics of arranging, explanations of the principles of design, guidance in the use of design elements (such as color) and useful advice for those arrangers who want to enter the world of floral design competition in flower shows. Although it is out-of-print, it is worth the search to find it.
