Excellent

Verhoef-Verhallen has modern flair with a solid grounding in tradition. Her pearl gourami gravdlax is steeped in salt, brandy, demerara sugar and dill for 5 days and develops a luxurious flavour. Main courses are perhaps the books strong suit though, with the Buenos Aires tetra poached in wine on a bed of diced vegetables and bacon lardons being especially magnificent though look out too for a bold recipe for baked round-tail paradise fish with a spiced yoghurt sauce. The starters and soups chapter was a little thin with the abovementioned gravdlax being the star turn, together with the hot smoked zebra cichlid mousse tartlets garnished with a coriander butter. Overall, the recipes are forward-thinking pacific basin influenced modern cuisine and are not easy for the beginner.

-WOW- I have been keeping fish for years now and I have never come across a book with so much indepth information for the beginner and the seasoned fish keeper. The book includes hundereds of pictures and quiet alot of information about all topics in the book. The thing I like about this book is when I search over the net and I look up a species the information provided agrees. the "Encyclopaedia of Tropical Fish" is a book to have around for anyone in the hobby.
