A joy for cat lovers simply to page through

Now in a compact paperback edition, The Complete Cat Owner's Manual: How to Raise a Happy, Healthy Cat is an excellent guide written for cat lovers, cat caretakers, and prospective cat owners of all ages and backgrounds. Chapters discuss how to care for one's cat, the basics of good feline health care, what one needs to know if considering breeding or showing one's cat, and an extensive summary of cat breeds. Featuring beautiful full-color photographs on every page of man's favorite feline friends, The Complete Cat Owner's Manual is a joy for cat lovers simply to page through as well as a jam-packed repository of invaluable information. For example, The Complete Cat Owner's Manual warns that the following foods should never be fed to cats: chocolate (poisonous to cats and dogs), onions (can cause a blood disorder called Heinz-body anemia), raw fish/poultry/eggs (often carry bacteria or parasites, and can destroy important vitamins), bones (may splinter and cause choking or gastrointestinal perforations) or dog food (which is not nutritionally formulated for cats). Highly recommended.

Great book! A must for all cat owners.

This book has beautiful pictures and great discriptions of the cat breeds. I love Bengal cats and did not feel as if the auther did the breed injustice. The auther is obviosly very well educated when it comes to cats. Keep up the good work!!

bengal cats

I am amazed that this author did not do her homework, obviously! We have two bengal cats and we are very happy to be "owned" by these beautiful cats--they do not have the terrible habits that the author says they do, nor does their urine smell horrible--we have a pound kitty that can outstink them, by leaps and bounds. It is really harmful to a breed, when someone who is a very uninformed person, takes it upon themself to discribe a breed that they know nothing about. These are not wildcats- but are domestic cats that are warm, loving and also very beautiful and very smart cats that have enriched their owners lives so much. I know that my husband and I would not even consider EVER getting another breed of cat, since we have had these two, as they put the other breeds we had personally had, to shame. They are very playful, intelligent, love water and love each other and are very attached to their owners, and they are both leash trained, plus the bonus--they like strangers, who come in the house--I know that most cats run away, but ours will run to meet them and climb into their laps and purr. This review of the bengal is totally inaccurate! Iam's is doing a correction to the part on the bengal, and when they do, it will probably be a good information book, but for now, I would not even consider buying it. Authors should check out what they are writing about, as I think this is a very important part of being a responsible writer. I can't imagine writing a cook book on recipes that I had never tasted or reviews on shows that I had not bothered to see--so I think the same thing applies to the books that are published. Why would anyone want a bengal, if her writing is correct? Just ask the people who own or breed bengals and they will tell you this is a misleading and totally incorrect information. I hope it is corrected soon.

A must have for all cat lovers!!

I've had the good fortune to see this book developed from inception to completion. The galleys look beautiful and the book is filled with information and interesting facts on the various breeds of cats, both domestic and wild. Ms. Page has been a cat breeder and a judge for the American Cat Association for many years and that experience is evident in the written portion of this book. This book is a must have for cat lovers and excellent reference for those who want to know more about our feline friends. A welcome addition to the reference shelf
