An excellent guide to butt and legs advanced shaping

I bought this book after I bought the "The complete book of ABS" by the same authors. I was so impressed by the thoroughness and effectiveness of the first book, that I decided to try this one and "The complete book of shoulders and arms". Here you will find every you need to: understand the muscles involved, how to warm and stretch them, how to perform all major exercises, and of course complete routines designed to fit the needs of almost everybody. If you liked "The complete book of ABS", you will love this one.

Keys for Killer Quads

The Brungardt series of "Complete" Exercises finally gets around to covering lower body. It's nice to see a reference book that focuses on the most essential piece of a well-planned workout.Legs (including Hamstrings, quads, and calves) are the thrust of this guide, and Brungardt certainly knows how to put together an excellent leg program, whether you are a novice or a pro. The Brungardt strategy is a sound 1-2-3 elevated program, guiding the reader from basic leg workouts up through some tough variations on the master of all weightlifting moves, the squat. The book takes a lot of time explaining the value of proper form in leg routines, which is essential for anyone looking to maintain a healthy back. Brungardt also spends a good deal of time explaining the importance of diet and cardio exercise to develope and tone some awesome legs. The section on glute building is rather basic, but fits well with the material as most leg exercises involve the glutes, when done properly. Some individual focus on hyperextensions, among other exercises, give the reader some good tools if they want to add more of a glute building routine to their program.I have found all of the Brungardts books to be a valuable guide for enforcing proper form, and getting some solid motivational advice (they always stress the importance of bringing the nind into the exercise, which is overlooked in most of today's exercise manuals). And it is nice to see legs get a book all their own - if you are like me, and know how valuable a good leg routine is to your workout, you'll appreciate the advice dispensed in this book. Of course, most gym rats won't be interested in a book that ignores the "pecs and guns" mentality that is so prevalent today in the gym. That's a shame, because this book is a great reminder of how lower body affects, and helps build a solid upper body as well

Must-Have Book for Fitness Enthusiasts

The third book in the three-part Brungardt brothers' series, "The Complete Book of Butt and Legs" is an essential must-have for any fitness enthusiast. The difficulty of working leg muscles is one of the most challenging routines anyone who works out faces everytime. With a combination of a good, low carbohydrate diet and plenty of weight resistance training, one can achieve the maximum results for their legs and gluteus region."The Complete Book of Butt and Legs" divides exercises accordingly to main regions the book is supposed to cover: back, quadriceps, calves, and hamstrings. Using a rating system of 1-3, (1 being the easiest, 3 being the most intensive) the author teaches readers of how to use a mind-body connection where the person focuses their mind on the leg/gluteus muscles whenever they are working them out. This method, which has been successful in my case, works these regions to their fullest. With a this book, a great diet, and maybe even a workout video to use from time to time, you'll be able to reach your desired goals within a matter of time. If you liked this book, then I recommend that you also try the other two books in the Brungardt brothers series: "The Complete Book of Shoulders and Arms. Overall, an excellent book to reach your fitness goals.

Very thorough; can be a hard read, however

The good thing about the Brungardt books is the brothers know what they're talking about. The problem is, they use a lot of technical anatomical terminology to explain the way muscles move and affect one another. It's GOOD to know that, but the book's first few chapters come across as textbooks. Once you get beyond that, you'll find a very useful encyclopedia of exercises for various muscles along your legs and glutes. If you're looking for exercises to work on these body areas, this book will serve you very well. Just be patient in those first few chapters, it does become readable.
