It is a brief book but it deserves careful reading. Selznick is able to write in a very rich and deep style that can mimmick lightness if not taken seriously. It is not light, though it is elegantly straightforward. It is the sort of work that deserves very close attention almost sentence by sentence. This will surely be an essential introduction to communitarianism for generations and offers a reader looking for insights on a coherent, engaged, moral way to live, a solid set of clues on how that objective might be realized.
