WOW, what a great read!

WOW, Bill Keith is an amazing journalist. His easy style takes me back to the day when news was delivered to us as factual and we were left to make up our mind about how we feel. I guess growing up in Shreveport and reading so many of his stories sort of made me feel like going home but even if you are not from there, the story is too strange for fiction. I have always tried to explain Louisiana polictics and this book does it best. Thank you Bill Keith for a wonderfully written story that I just couldn't put down. Perhaps the strangest part was reading about the "players" (good and bad) that were the parents of kids I went to school with. Easily read in day and so exciting I was left wanting more! The only thing I could complain about was that it wasn't available on Kindle yet. Thanks Mr. Keith! Yvonne (Burns) McCarthy

Great reference tool

Bill Keith is an ethical and thorough reporter/researcher. He accurately portrays an interesting and fascinating piece of history in Shreveport, Louisiana. George D'Artois was a very powerful man, much like the famous Bull Connors of Birmingham. Mr. Keith follows the rise and downfall of D'Artois and leaves the reader wanting to know more. I sense there might be another book about Louisiana politics, and I am certainly looking forward to it.

The Commissioner

This is absolutely one of the best I have read in a long time...read it all in ONE DAY....and knew all of the people mentioned in the book...from Shreveport,La. This is actual history of this city and can remember all of the points of the book...very well written........
