It would be easy to dismiss this book. Here it is more than twenty-five years later, and the currency hasn't collapsed. However, unlike other forgotten economic doom 'n gloom books, there are bits in this books which ring true in 2007. We've had a run up in precious metals, the likes of which haven't been seen since this book was published in 1980. We're fighting a costly overseas war. The middle class is being squeezed. Inflation is creeping back into the economy, although officially we haven't heard much said about it. This is one scary book, and I hope Jerome F. Smith stays wrong. One thing's sure- this book remains an interesting read. Let's hope we heed the warning.
