This work first came as a television programme script for the BBC in 1980. Then, it was published by the Viking Press, "The Comet Is Coming! The Feverish Legacy of Mr. Halley" was written by a British science writer, Nigel Calder. In this informative work, he examines the history, legends, and the science of comets, especially the Halley's Comet. Throughout this book, Calder also brings the reader to look at the facts and fictions of the comets in the past as well the story behind the man who discovered the Halley's Comet: Edmond Halley. Also, I certainly like the way the author started his first chapter: "Soothsayers and fiction-writers have a case: one day the Earth will collide with a bright comet or its dark corpse and the results will be world-wide mayhem. It has happened before." (p. 9) The book is roughly 150 pages with eight chapters, including pictures. I personally felt this book is a worthwhile read as it holds essential information about the comets as well the stories behind the discovers of comets. It is easy to read, well-written, and understandable. I highly would recommend this classical book.
