Book Overview

Ruth Connelly used to think she had the perfect life--two beautiful children, a caring, attractive husband, and a successful and illustrious career. But without her even realizing it, everything has started disintegrating. She and Paul, passionately inseparable at the beginning of their marriage, have started drifting apart, and her older child Josie, once so sweet and energetic, is now sullen and bitter, lashing out at her parents at the slightest...

When wil Ms. Madison write another book? Soon, I hope!

This was a wonderful book. The story was intricately woven and kept a nice pace. The family dynamics proved interesting till the last page. I felt I knew the characters and would love to see this book make it to the big screen. What a story!

A surprisingly moving story

It is a long time since I read books that made me laugh or cry out loud. That was something I found in the books of childhood in which you immerse yourself, but decently written books tend in general to evoke less of a gut response. This book is no trashy light-weight read, yet left me, to my own surprise, weeping as I read it. I couldn't disagree more with one of the earlier reviewers who complained that the middle section was slow. Yes, the beginning and the end contain more surprises, but the central heartfelt descriptions of a family faced with the awful drawn-out horror of loss capture the emotions, as does Will, the son of every mother's heart. I was sceptical about this book as I began it, but it won me over

The color of hope

This book was great. I read it in less than a day. It is the kind of book that keeps you wondering how a person will pick themselves up from a tragic loss. It had me crying throught out the entire book and never I never found any of its content boring or slow. I recommend it to any one that likes a heart felt novel. I will be reading it again soon. I would love to find more novels with this type of story line!

Facinating Read!

I was so fascinated by this tragically, mysterious family story that I had a hard time putting the book down and looked forward to finding time to pick it up again to find out what was happening next. There was much sadness and gloomy events as well as some happy times for that well-to-do family from Boston. I really enjoyed reading THE COLOR OF HOPE and recommend it highly as a story that is very different from family stories that are a bore.

Color of Hope

Picked this book up on a whim and was profoundly involved in the story within the first 20 pages. A sensitive and detailed account of how a family and particularly a marriage are changed by the death of a child. Detailed thoughtful characters, combined with a suprising amount of suspense make for a fascinating read. Reminded me of Errands by Judith Guest or Such Good People by Martha Whitmore Hickman. Yes, its about death but also about so much much more. A worthwhile read for anyone who has experienced grief in any form.
