Nearly a thousand Earth years have passed since the Life Ship, Seeker, transported three thousand human volunteers from Earth to the planet Terra. Terra was lifeless because of the thick layer of toxic dust in the atmosphere. But Seeker had a plan. To cleanse the atmosphere, ten fleets of aircraft, each with ten individual stations, were deployed in the atmosphere. The stations extract the material to produce fuel for the engines and nutrients for various on-station uses from the cloud dust and release excess clean air back into the atmosphere. Unused solid material is compacted, jettisoned overboard, and falls to the surface of the planet. If the plan is successful, the clean air will eventually replace the dust, and the planet will be inhabitable.
