THE CLEARING is an unforgettable story that borders on music. The characters are well drawn, the novel well written. It is about human beings whose emotional responses are more important than their rational ones. It is "Truth" based upon individual experience and imagination.

Mr. McBride's The Clearing weaves a web of sensual romance. His writing is sensitive and clever. Very refreshing style. I'm waiting for the Horsethief Moon to appear! Jim McBride has an usual talent.

Great New American Fiction.

A friend gave me a copy while I was travelling through Montana and told me it was the best thing she had read in years. You were right Martha. This novel reminds me of the early Fitzgerald and Hemingway writings. The characters are real, they live, they breathe and they suffer for their love. I couldn't put it down. McBride has a good deal of talent.

Love and romance transcend time & connect two worlds.

The sensitivity and beauty of McBride's story transcends time over several centuries. It makes one want to believe in a "force" greater than our own--that love and romance have no finality. The book is a wonderful read.

THE CLEARING is a well written novel and it held my interest

I think Mr. McBride has his fingers on a new genre of writing. I don't know what it is called, but it is interesting and the characters are finely developed, I want more of his writings
