Jim felt he was lucky to have a dad who was director of a state park in the mountains of New England. He loved hiking and exploring and this summer he had the opportunity to work with a specialist who was studying the bears in the park and filming the bears for a tv documentary. What luck. Then something really bizarre happened...deaths from bear attacks. Black bears will almost never attack a human and there were no grizzleys around for hundreds of miles. Jim was there when the police checked for clues and saw the bodies. They hadn't had a chance to even get out of their sleeping bags. Later two more people were killed and more evidence pointed to the bears, but Jim began to wonder. Despite the claw marks on the victims and the paw prints leading to them, he didn't think the bears had done this. If not, then a very clever murderer was loose in the park. Who would be next?
