It's Time For a Change

Imagine creating a classroom atmosphere that makes students actually want to be in school. . . a place where students are inspired to take charge of their own learning. . . and where teaching itself becomes less of a job and more like a pleasure filled adventure. This is what you'll take from Mike D'Amato's new book, "The Classroom". The book is written in a quick, easy to read fashion, but it is densely packed with compelling insights into the art of teaching, as well as curriculum ideas, lesson plans, innovative suggestions, and resources. Unlike other books of this type that I have read, D'Amato's work is grounded in the realities of the classroom. Even as a veteran teacher, D'Amato's personal take on the joys and frustrations of teaching have caused me to look at what I do every day from a fresh perspective. Any teacher striving to create a happy classroom and at the same time promote high-quality student learning will find this book worthwhile.

Finally! A refreshing and realistic teaching tool!

The Classroom, by Michael James D'Amato, is a refreshing, realistic collection of anecdotes, teacher survival tips, classroom management procedures, activities to build classroom community, and strategies for all teachers and prospective teachers. As a kindergarten teacher with students MUCH younger than Mr. D'Amato's, I could easily relate to his wisdom and implement many of his strategies into my classroom. I've ordered a second copy for my student teacher to take with her into her first year of teaching. Mr. D'Amato: Thank you for finally writing a practical and enjoyable book that not only reminds me of the real reasons why I chose this profession, but will encourage me to continue to teach all of my students in a variety of ways that incorporate all of the learning styles. Bravo!

Energizer Bunny

Mr. D'Amato reminds me of the "Energizer Bunny" - he just keeps going. I hope he is truly like that with his students. Ending each chapter of his book with "Fascinating Facts" and "An Important Thing I Learned About Life Is.." (which I hope he ends some of his classes with), is something his students will probably remember well into adulthood. It's nice to see that classrooms are becoming more multifaceted. The book came highly recommended to me.

A book you will reference again and again

'The Classroom' is a pleasure to read. Far from a dry, technical book, it is enriched with interesting facts, quotes, and brain teasers. While I read it straight through, from cover to cover, it is structured so that readers can easily find and reference points most relevant to them. I recommend getting the book over downloading the electronic version, so that you have a ready reference manual for those quick reminders, activities, and problem solving techniques.

A MUST read for new and veteran teachers

Michael James D'Amato has written an easy-to-read, concise as well as imaginative educational book that provides practical advice to teachers young and old; to assist in opening their eyes to the creative, imagination and to stimulate strategies to inspire today's students. This is not a boring exercise in technical educational behavior- but an enjoyable fun read that will inspire you to use and adapt many of these fantastic strategies into the classroom. Anything that reaches a student is a positive and Mr. D'Amato's book contains great information and practical applications that will help in any classroom setting. Administrators, buy this for your staff. Teachers buy this for yourself or for a friend/parent. ... Get in touch with your students to succeed; this book will help.
