I have always thought Mary Herbert to be a very under appreciated author. Her characters have a lot of depth, and come to life off the pages. This is one of the books I have to tell myself to put down, and go to sleep. This is technically the pre-cursor to a full three book series called the Linsha trilogy. You'll meet a medley of charming characters including a talking owl, a bronze dragon who leads two lives (one as a human.), a clumsy, yet loyal Centaur, and some other less likable beings. It's hard to write a review without giving away any of the main plot points that made the book so interesting - So I guess you'll just have to read for yourself! This is an excellent book, and I'm anxiously awaiting her next story.
A great book!

This is one of my favorite books in the DragonLance saga. The character of Linsha Majere is well developed and intriguing. This book has action, romance, and mystery. My copy has typos that the editor missed, but for dedicated DL fans, it doesn't matter. Should be followed by reading the Lisha trilogy, also awesome!
Following the bloodline

As much as War of Souls follows the giant sweeping epic arcs of Krynn, it is good to be able to watch what the children of the original Dragonlance Chronicles heroes are doing... or in this case one particular grandchild. That in and of itself does not make for a good book. But what did make this book good was a good solid storyline, interesting characters, and enough intrigue to keep you going from chapter to chapter.I don't mean to spoil anything but not all details get resolved, but it does leave enough open for a true sequel (rather than the following Crossroads novels which are separate stories) that I would be very much inclined to read.A few of the details are easy to figure out on your own in this book, and there are a few details you want to slap the main character for not seeing. But to be able to read through the boatload of events going on in one city existing in the location in Ansalon that screams 'Please Gods! Destroy us now!' is very much the treat.
Linsha Majere, Knight of the Rose!

This has got to be one of the best Dragonlance novels I have ever read. Bar None! Linsha Majere is ordered my the Solmanics Clandestine Circle to get as close to Lord Bight as possible. They want to find out anything they can use to discredit him.Shortly after a ship crashed into the docks in Saction's harbor. Almost everyone on board the ship is dead. Having died of some foul disease that no one has ever seen before. This plague threatens to wipe out all of Sanctions people if the cure is not found soon.Linsha along with her companion Varia (an owl) are pulled into a tangled web of lies and half truths. Not only that but Linsha begins to have feelings for her commanding officer. She also begins to earn a healthy respect for Lord Bight. In the end she will have to choose between here orders, or doing what feels right in here heart. 5 Stars to this amazing entry into the Dragonlance Saga!
A deceptively interesting book indeed

The Clandestine Circle is not your ordinary Dragonlance novel. If you're looking for a book with a bunch of dragons, battles, and such things, you might want to skip The Clandestine Circle or borrow your friend's copy for later reading. The Clandestine Circle deals with Rose Knight Linsha Majere (daughter of Palin and Usha Majere) as an agent for a special interest group within the formerly honorable Knights of Solamnia. The intrigue, espionage, romance and double dealings between groups such as the Knights of Takhisis, Legion of Steel, and agents of the fearsome black dragon Onysablet make this book an absolute must buy for fans of these qualities in novels!
