The Silver Mountain State Chinese

This is an important chapter in American history about the Chinese in Nevada with a Chinese cowboy on a horse as the book cover. It covers the Chinatown with vintage pictures and text for review. However, on page 20, the caption said the letter was dated 1900 but the Chinese on the left column date was China Republic year 9, meaning 1920. It is exciting to learn about the founder of Chinese Republic, Dr. Sun Yat-sen stopped by Reno and Winnemucca and got financial support. Page 17 showed a picture of Quong Kee who was present at the Golden Spike Ceremony in May 1869 at Promontory Point UT. Page 81 was a picture of 19Reno Chinatown gambling house. Chinese played fantan, dice, domino, and Kano before Reno and Las Vegas initiated the license of gaming with these games and tradition. It was Chinese who helped develop this important money making industry for the State! This book helps understand the life of Chinese in this state, further reading is needed for the Silver mountain of Virginia City in Comstock Lode and their supporting role.
