The Chess Encyclopedia is a full collection of Grandmaster biographies, accounts of some of the greatest games ever played, an abundance of chess terms, and many photographs supporting all the details. The value of this book predominantly as a collector's piece as most of the information is available on the internet. However, this does not devalue the content and should not deter anyone viewing this book as a collection to their chess library as the explanations are entertaining and well written. I recommend this book to any chess aficionado seeking to enhance their chess library.
Loads of Information -- Needs an Update
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 25 years ago
This encyclopedia has biographical information on almost every grandmaster up to the late-1980s as well definitions of chess terms, information on great tournaments, and other tidbits. It could use an update since most of the information is now close to ten years old. There are a number of games; but unfortunately, they are not annotated.
