A Geat Resouce Guide!

A Great resource for all who like to eat! Part 1, called "Healthy Eating 101" offers the reader some great tips for eating well. Whether your goal is weight loss, control of diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or you simply want to plan better meals for you and your family, this section covers all of the basics and then some! Part 2 provides eye opening nutritional information for over 140 restaurants. This is not meant to stop you from eating at those restaurants, but to help you make better choices from their menus . Part 3 gives the reader a listing of many common foods including their nutritional values...again to help make you a better eater! As a Registered Dietitian, I will recommend this guide to my clients as another tool to help them achieve their nutrition and health goals. A great quick reference for the car, purse, or desktop! You certainly won't want to 'shelf' this book.

Great tool for eating right when on the road!

What a great book to have in your car! As with many others, I find myself on the road with work and carting kids around. Many times I am stuck in town and need to grab a bite to eat. It is really nice to see that you can still make great choices when you are not cooking at home. Knowing the calories in some of my favorites has caused me to pause and rethink my choices!

Very Helpful; Great Rebate

I picked this guide up last week, and it's great. Complete menus and nutritional info for just about every chain restaurant I can think of. This book has helped me substitute healthier choices at lunch. And with the $[...] rebate form in the book, purchasing this one was a no-brainer.

a great on the go guide!

I bought this handy little reference before my husband and I made a trip across country. We're normally health nuts, but on the road it becomes very difficult. The Calorie Counter For Dummies definitely helped us navigate the healthiest choices at the fast food and restaurant stops on our journey. It was fantastic to be able to make informed decisions about what to order at places you don't correlate with eating healthy and there wasn't a place that we stopped that The Calorie Counter For Dummies didn't have info for! Best purchase I've made in a long time.

Great resource!

My 13-yr-old son and I are both Type 1 diabetics, and we often consult guides such as this one. We have used the Calorie King in the past, but this seems to have the same nutritional info for most chain restaurants and fast food places as well as the helpful tips included for eating out. I also appreciate the common foods guide in the back. Our family eats in more than out, but my son plays school sports and when the team bus stops at McDonalds, or Wendy's or other fast food establishment, I'm glad he'll have some sense of how many carbs he's eating so that he can give himself the appropriate insulin bolus.
