Book Overview

Paul Tremblay's terrifying twist to the home invasion novel--inspiration for the upcoming major motion picture from Universal Pictures

"Tremblay's personal best. It's that good." -- Stephen King

Seven-year-old Wen and her parents, Eric and Andrew, are vacationing at a remote cabin on a quiet New Hampshire lake. Their closest neighbors are more than two miles in either direction along a rutted dirt road.

Great writing. Good story.

This book was a page turner. The characters were a bit frustrating.. especially the two male protagonists. But the end of the book actually came together in a beautiful way that I was, in one way, expecting but also not sure what was going to happen from one moment to the next. Odd but satisfying. This is my first read from this writer and I'm looking forward to exploring more of his work.

I was hooked

It was pretty decent

Could you tell your most terrifying delusions from the actual end of the world?

This book makes you feel like nothing makes sense while the vagueness in the beginning of the book explodes into action and terror. You will try so hard to hate the antagonists but for some reason they hold your sympathy and trust because, what if they really are right? Give this book a shot if you like a mix of psychological horror with some action and gore mixed in.

This book really left me wanting more, and not in a good way. This was the first book I’ve read by Tremblay, which I’m kind of disappointed this is where I started because I hear Head Full of Ghosts being praised online constantly. The characters were forgettable. The dialogue left much to be desired. I’m giving it a second star because of the choice to use a gay couple as the MCs and some gore and well described imagery. Aside from that, this is the book in a nutshell: “You’ve gotta sacrifice one of you, or the worlds gonna end’” “No” “But you gotta!” You may enjoy this book, I just didn’t prefer it personally. Don’t do what I did if you’ve never read his stuff and read Head Full of Ghosts first. Because after stomaching this book, it’s gonna be a while before I read any more of his stuff and that’s a shame because he’s a good writer. This just wasn’t it.
