Near an isolated mansion lies a beautiful garden.

In this garden grow luscious flowers, shady trees...and a collection of precious "butterflies"--young women who have been kidnapped and intricately tattooed to resemble their namesakes. Great dark read!

The first book I have read from the author and was quickly taken into the story. Live a good book with a dark story line.

Good concept, unbelievable chactarization of female lead

The concept was so interesting. The gardener, his sons, and the butterflies' stories/dynamic is so interesting. If you love crime novels this is great. However, the main characters portrayal is unbelievable at best or she's a sociopath. The author explains her uncanny abilities and emotional control as "pragmatism", but it really just comes across as mary-sueish. Its almost like the author wanted to have her cake and eat it to. The MC is in a horrible situation & a victim, yet she's a badass that isnt shaken at all and is able to understand/overcome her situation without an ounce of fear, anxiety, ect... You can be a victim, a survivor, a badass, and be fearful all at the same time, but it's almost humanly impossible to navigate you're horrible life without any emotional toll. The author however paints a picture of someone whose as cool as a Cucumber.

2.5 stars.

In theory, the story is good. But the writing is terrible. So many times, I had to re-read paragraphs and sentences because of how bad the writing is. The characters are not believable. The concept of the story, though, is why I finished the book. I just wish a better writer wrote it. I will not be reading the rest of the books in the series and dont recommend anyone to read this.

I finally splurged to get a physical copy!

MANY TW but I couldn’t put it down when I read it on kindle (I love owning any and all books I love physically!)

Couldn’t put it down

The story telling was amazing although I wish the ending didn’t feel so rushed I throughly enjoyed every page from beginning to end

Short easy read

I liked this book! I will def buy the rest of the series. It takes you along a horrific journey of these young women who are taken by the Gardiner. You get to follow the characters journeys while held captive in the greenhouse and it leaves you with a ton of emotions. Please look up the trigger warnings before reading.

Loved

My first book of the new year and so glad it was the one to get me out of my reading slump. I can't really write much about the book without giving away specifics but I will say you have to read it.

An absolute gem

My favorite book to this day. An interesting story that is filled with twists and turns. I can not put this book down even after I have read it at least 10 times.

Captivating page turner!

Narrated by one of the survivors, her point of view was executed well. I could not put this book down because of the interesting circumstance as well as her back story. You simply must read it.
