When Greenwich Village butcher Leo Lemke (George Dzundza) returns from a North Carolina fishing trip, he can't wait to show off his prize catch: his beautiful new wife, a country clairvoyant named Marina (Demi Moore). But the butcher's pride turns to prime concern when he hears gossip about a backwoods psychic whose charms are turning hardened city dwellers into lovestruck kids. Dr. Alex Tremor (Jeff Daniels), the local psychiatrist, isn't convinced of Marina's so-called powers. But his textbooks can't explain the joy she spreads, or the growing attraction he feels toward her. Costarring Mary Steenburgen, The Butcher's Wife is "a charming tale of romantic love and magical adventure" (David Sheehan, KNBC-TV Los Angeles).

This is one of those movies that you will want to add to your Christmas story collection.
Marina (Demi Moore) lives on the South Carolina coast with Grammy D'Arbo (Elizabeth Lawrence). She has a dream that she will meet her split apart. Then she sees a two-tailed comet as a definite sign. Sure enough, Leo Lemke (George Dzundza) shows up in a boat, and she runs to greet her future.
There are many overlapping stories of love and lovers. They all cross lives with Marina, and she changes everything. This greatly upsets the local “Shrink” Dr. Alex Tremor (Jeff Daniels).
One of the nice touches is that wherever Marina goes, there is a slight breeze of fresh air.
This leaves two main questions:
Harper asks, “Why does everything I touch die?”
Who gets the toad that “…will seal your love forever”?
