Fun and Fast Paced

I have read all of Jennifer Colt's novels and enjoyed them immensely. The entire McAfee twin series is laugh out loud in places funny. If you are interested in a fun read, read this series of book. You will not regret it.

Don't be put off by "BUTCHER"- Book is fast paced funny and fresh

I typically am not attracted to books that have "slasher" word's in the titles... but this series is an marked exception. You have to read the premise and know the butcher is not a crazed body parts collecter... but a plastic surgeon. This is where the fun begins. Twins with amusingly opposite personalities combine to make an unlikely but hilarious private eye team. They are surrounded by a very broad spectrum of colorful characters and the scenarios just keep pulling you ahead page by amusing page. If I didn't know there was a sequel right behind it I might have savored it and read over a day or two but I read it in one sitting. So much for delayed gratification ;-)

One Hell of a Romp

I absolutely LOVED this book. Such smart, original writing. Colt does an excellent job of describing the L.A. scene (reminds me of how Carl Hiaasen so perfectly puts the read in Florida) and her obsessively self-absorbed characters (read Robert and Reba) are hysterical. I found my self laughing out loud on page after page -- to the point where people were starting to stare at me at the coffee shop. The plot is outrageous and totally over-the-top, but the perfect vehicle for her characters to shine through. I enjoyed every minute of this one.

A mystery for gen X and Y

A great book with hysterical characters. The twin sisters who are the detectives in the book cause more chaos than and three Stephanie Plum's. If you like Evanovich you will love this book. Also look at books by Robert Eversz.

Read this before going to a plastic surgeon!

I loved this book! It was a fun & fast read with lots of excitement and "who done it" questions that will keep you very entertained! Every time you think you have figuered it out, Jennifer Colt throws you for a loop. The story revolves around two crazy twins, Kerry & Terry who own their own private detective agency. While doing an investigation, they stumble across a serial killer who is murdering Beverly Hill's most prominent people and it's up to them to uncover the truth before they are the killer's next victims. I can't wait to read The Mangler of Malibu Canyon due out January 2006!!

2 thumbs way up!

I want to give a review without giving any of the story details, since it is a mystery and I don't want to ruin the story for you people. Basically it's a story about 2 private investigators, Kerry and Terry McAfee. They just happen to be identical, downt to the freckles, twin sisters. Kerry is the 'good girl' smarty who loves to learn. Terry is the opposite. She's the 'bad girl' who spent time in jail and who's had a 'nose candy' addiction in the past. Both girls are highly loveable characters. They are quick witted, funny, sarcastic and smart. Everything you want in a female heroin. It was fun to watch these twins unravel the mystery of the butcher of Beverly Hills. I love how the author wrote the story and how everything comes together in the end. This book is definetly one you dont want to pass up! I'm looking forward to reading her next novel, The Mangler of Malibu Canyon. Keep on writing Jennifer Colt. I would love to see more to this series!
