The Businessman's Bride by Jackie Braun Harlequin Romance # 3929 - January 2007 Rick Danton's been JT's best friend and legal advisor for years and he's in love with JT's adoptive sister, Anne. He knows that he'll never be good enough for Anne, that he has to be content to look out for her and chase away the loser's that want a piece of JT Lundy's baby sister and JT's billions. Anne has always resented that big brother heavy hand Rick waves at her prospective boyfriends. He'd had them investigated! She had not held any punches the last time they spoke, in telling him just what she thought of his interference. But when Anne is approached from a Japanese lawyer claiming to represent her birth mother, Anne turns to Rick for help. The claims are true, the birth mother that Anne was told was dead is truly alive, and DNA doesn't lie. And now Anne to torn between the family she's loved all her life and a new family eagerly waiting for her in Japan. It's only natural that when JT can't accompany Anne to Japan to meet her birth family, that Rick fills in. This suits Anne just fine. She'll use their time together to loosen that tie and mess up that perfectly combed hair. We met Anne and Rick in Jackie Braun's The Billionaire's Bride. Anne is delightful! She's the perfect spitfire to knock down that armoured-plated wall Rick has built around himself and shake up his rigid control. Anne's always been content believing that genetics had nothing to do with the woman she's become. While Rick is convinced that he is his father's son. Ms. Braun succeeds in bringing balance to both their beliefs. Though the subject matters are deeply emotional, Ms. Braun adds witty dialogue and delicious chemistry that make this love story heartwarming and one for the keeper shelf. :D
