An Amazing Book!

I couldn't get the books character's out of my head! I'd think of them long after I had book the book down. I grew up in Oklahoma. My mom and dad worked for oil companies. I'd visited Ponca City, but like everybody, when you live somewhere, you hardly ever visit the museums in your own state. When I started reading the Broken Statue I knew it was a work of fiction, but I was interested in seeing, just what was fiction and what was true. I was astounded, at just how much in the book was TRUE! I became fascinated at doing more and more research, so I got on the internet and looked up the what I could on the Marlands!! Because I was reading the book on a Kindle, I didn't get the details from the author on what was true and what wasn't until the end, which was good, because it force me to to do some digging! I thoroughly enjoyed this book, as I did the author's book, Mimosa Lane. Now I can't wait to get to Ponca City so I can visit the Marland Mansion. Thanks you Mr. Perry for another great book!

Are you from Ponca?

If you are from Ponca City, Oklahoma this is a must-have. Wonderful fiction story based around true facts from the glory days of Ponca when Marland was trying to make Ponca America's newest cultural city in the Midwest. I'm not a big fan of historical fiction but I couldn't put this down. Very entertaining story line but compelling when you realize these were true, larger than life individuals that the events center around. After finishing the book I had to go online to read even more about the non-fiction characters.
