On the morning of her wedding, Tyler Stewart looked out the wrong window and witnessed a murder. Running for her life, she opened Lucas Hawkins's door and found her true heart's desire. This description may be from another edition of this product.
I really enjoyed 'The Bride's Protector'- what a wonderful tale! I enjoy romance novels(my favorite type of books!), but this one was an extra special treat! I couldn't put it down until I finished it. I was hoping to have the story continue on, actually. The basic plot is that on her hastily arranged wedding day, bride and former model Tyler Stewart has serious second, third, and fourth thoughts about marrying her sheikh playboy millionaire fiance. She finally decides that even though she's supposed to marry within the hour, she can't go through with it and must talk it out with him instead. Rushing to his hotel suite to talk to him(he's supposed to be meeting up with his father who is attending the ceremony amid threats of assasination attempts), she walks in on a murder. The killers, having seen her are now after her, and her only hope is the strange man whose hotel room she 'borrows' to hide out.Right from the start she knows that there is more to him that she can see and she never gets the whole story about him until almost the end of the book, but that doesn't stop her from trusting him and falling in love with the man she only comes to know as "Hawk". Luccas Hawkins-'Hawk'- is in fact a government assassin who at the start of the story avenges the death of his colleague and boss. He's very good at his job and he's an incredibly dangerous and tortured man with a very bad past and no one in his life he cares about anymore except for the other members of the covert team he used to work with on operations. But while on the run with Tyler, he finds himself drawn to her and falling in love. She thinks of him as her white knight. He knows better and comes to hate the day when he'll have to tell her who he really is what he does.Hawk is one of the most compelling heros I've ever read about(I loved him!) and Tyler is great heroine for him. She's a real woman with spirit and depth. I think Ms. Wilson developed her characters very well. This started out as a trilogy(The Bride's Protector, The Stranger She Knew, and His Secret, Her Child) and I read them out of order because of what became available at the library. I loved all of them and am now reading the rest of the books in the lineup(Men Of Mystery/Phoenix Brotherhood), but this one is my favorite! A really great read!
Absolutely the best!

Absolutely a page turner. Unfortunately, I will also judge other Harlequin Intrigue novels to Gayle Wilson's work. I could not put the book down and actually felt like I was there with Tyler and Hawk. Great story! I didn't feel like I was just reading sentences, but I could feel the story. I have read other Harlequin Intrigue novels and although they were good, Gayle Wilson's has been the best. I wish there had been more of these gentlemen to write about in her trilogy.
Wilson At Her Best

With "The Bride's Protector," Gayle Wilson delivers a great tale that should satisfy romance and mainstream readers alike. A renegade CIA operative and a witness to murder are on the run from impossible odds, and readers are lucky enough to be taken along for the ride. I was swept up in Hawk and Tyler's story from page one. It's a beautifully constructed novel, as Wilson manages to juggle a complex story, two strong characters, and a lot of suspense and passion with surprising ease. By the end, I was amazed by just how much ground she was able to cover in 250 pages. The suspense tale is frighteningly realistic enough to please anyone who loves espionage-type stories and contains both a compelling dilemma and enough twists to keep readers guessing. Meanwhile, romance readers won't be disappointed by a love story that is both passionate and ultimately poignant (LOVED the last scene in the house in Covington)."The Bride's Protector" strikes the perfect balance between story, character, romance and suspense. If this is any indication of the next two books in her "Men of Mystery" series, we're in for a treat. This ranks right up with "Only a Whisper" and "Whisper My Love" as Wilson's top efforts-as well as easily being the best Intrigue so far this year. A must-read.
Fast paced suspense with sizzling romance.

The Bride's Protector is a roller coaster ride of danger and passion. Tyler Stewart is running for her life and Lucas Hawkins is the man to save her. This is an exciting and fast read with two wonderfully flawed characters, and passion that can sizzle the pages. An absolute must read!
Fabulous book by a wonderful writer!

THE BRIDE'S PROTECTOR is a terrific romantic suspense novel -- it ranks right up there with the best in the business. A heroine on the run, a dangerous man, action, adventure and sizzling sex make up the best combination of romance and suspense I've read in a long time. Gayle Wilson is a marvel!
