From a caring physician who has treated thousands of breast cancer patients, a clear and reassuring guide to the disease, its prevention, and its treatment.
A diagnosis of breast cancer is among the most frightening moments in a person's life--so frightening that even to formulate questions for the doctor may seem impossible. This helpful book is written as a guide for women and men facing breast cancer and for their caring families...
I was diagnosed with breast cancer 12 days ago and have been doing a lot of research and reading and this is the best book I have found on breast cancer and it was just written in 2005 so it's pretty up to date. The book is written in plain English so it's easy to understand and navigate through something so complicated and difficult. Gail Sheehy, author of Passages says, "This is the book to read for the journey beyond breast cancer." The author treats the disease and the patient, including family and friends so it's a great combination encompassing prevention, diagnosis, treatment decision making, what I will be experiencing physically and emotionally during this process and through recovery. I read half of it last night so it's an easy read and so informative. I honestly feel every woman with or without a cancer diagnosis as well as family and friends of someone with breast cancer should read this book. It may save your life or the life of someone you love. I hope this will help you, your daughters and all the women in your life.
