Guzie writes in a style and manner that makes complicated theological concepts understandable. He keeps an historical perspective without delving into the abyss of mere historicism. The only problem (small, yet noticeable) I found was Guzie's non-distinction of the terms "symbol" and "ritual." This book is an excellent starting place for anyone looking to begin their study into the sacraments (I recommend it to my students). I also recommend this book to anyone who (like me) needs to update and rescue their ideas of liturgy and sacraments.
