Super cute

My daughter loves the American Girl books and this one is no different. Cute kit that helped her start her own little book club. Has some good ideas and activities to keep little girls busy.

Nice for the price

This kit was purchased for my 12 year old granddaughter, who loves to read and was interested in starting her own book club. This kit helped her to put her idea into action. She simply loves it!

Perfect for girls who love to read

I bought this for my nine-year-old daughter, and she loves it. She's already started her own book group using the book. She follows it faithfully and tells me every detail that it suggests, so we can replicate it at home for her book group. Like most American Girl products, this is a hit.

Must have kit for starting a book club!

I bought this kit because I'm starting an American Girl Book Club in my area, and my girls range in age from 8-11. I wasn't sure that it would have anything useful for covering the historical books, but I took a chance, and was THRILLED to see how much useful info it has. This kit can apply to ANY books, not just AG books. And it applies to both their historical books and the modern books. The kit includes The Book Club Book, which is written to a girl's point-of-view, but it was helpful for me to look through as well. The kit also has bookmarks and calendars for your meeting dates, but the best part are the discussion cards. There are big cards with "Discussion Starters" with a question from one of AG's historical books, and a modern book. For example, there's a card that features 'Happy Birthday, Kit!' and the discussion starter question is, "What was Aunt Millie's birthday gift to Kit? Have you ever received a homemade gift that you treasure?" Also on this card is the AG book 'Room Crafts'. Its question is "Have you ever decorated your room with any crafts you've made? What about your room are you most proud of?". Then on the back of these cards are activity ideas that compliment the book, such as with Kit's book.. "Do you know anyone who sews? Invite them to your meeting to give a sewing lesson..learn how to sew on a button or hand-stitch a pillow to match your room". There are also small cards labeled FICTION and NONFICTION. Since the historical books are considered "Historical Fiction", most of both sets of cards apply to them. Each card has a question on the back such as (Non fiction) "Name two things you learned in the book" or "What do you think the author's goal was in writing this book?" and (fiction) "Talk about a situation in the book. What would you do in that situation?" or "If you could trade places with one of the characters for a day, which one would it be and why?". The cards are a great way to get the girls talking. We just had our first meeting last week, and I even showed the kit to the girls. If a girl wants to start a club on her own, the kit would be easy enough for her to understand and give her everything she needs to get started. Its also a great help to an adult like me who might want to lead a book club of any kind. The questions in the kit would also be appropriate for boys as well as girls. I'm SO glad I took a chance with this one, because now that our club is up and running, I can't imagine doing this without it.
