Eire, 1950s/1960s: As Hugh Dawley looks down from his farm on Mount Fierna, he covets the richer pastures of Barton Hall Estate - land which belonged to his ancestors. Motivated by a different 'vision', the dreams and aspirations she has for her children go far beyond the mountain. Slowly, the family cohesion begins to disintegrate...
This is simply a great book. I defy anybody, adult or child, not to enjoy it!Whilst ostensibly a grown-up book, there is plenty in here which children will enjoy if left to read it in their own time. Seriously - drop your kids off in The Pool - you'll both be the better for it!
