Passion takes a backseat

3.5 stars I have to agree this story doesn't really pack the passion and seduction that Harlequin Presents usually carried in their recent story lines. And personally, I'm glad. Stories lately focus more about getting the heroine into bed and don't really give much a storyline or give room for feelings to grow. Alexandra Hill just came home from a vacation and was immediately sent to an interview with Max Goodwin. Max Goodwin is looking for an interpreter for one of his contracts and when he first laid eyes on her, he wasn't sure she was right one for the job. Soon, he realized that there is more to this girl than he thought. He hires her and as a requirement, she needed a makeover. Then became stunned when he realized how beautiful person she was inside and out. Soon, he finds himself falling in love with her but holds himself back. Alexandra finds herself in the same boat and fights against her attraction as well for personal reasons. This is a really sweet story where the hero and heroine works hard to fight their attraction to each other because of circumstances. It was quick read and well paced. The story isn't very original and predictable which is why I didn't give it a full 4 but I like the characters and the writing was well done. Armstrong can always write an entertaining story with enough friction and conflict to make her stories interesting. However, I did find Alexandra too good to be true sometimes and her need for everything to be right annoying in the end of the story. Max was a good hero considering the situation he was placed in. This is a clean romance. But if you're looking for passion and such, unfortunately, this story is not for you. This story is in more line with Harlequin Romance line.
