great disaster story

This story deals, quite realistically, with the devastation following several major earthquakes in southern California. There is a handful of principle characters and we follow their plight throughout the book as each of them deals with their personal quest to survive. The book seems to be well researched and provides quite a bit of technical details about earthquakes, specfically in the southern California area. It is scary to imagine a disaster such as this, and the inability of the emergency services to deal with the damage and provide aid to the survivors. My only complaint is that the book should have had more careful editing. There were more than a few grammatical errors and some of the sentence structure was questionable. Otherwise, I highly recommend this story.

Vision of The Big One into the future.

I saw my vision within dreaming at night. The building will be cracking down to hit a people on a middle street. Second, the seismograph will very seismic (max: 120 degrees) and has full a black paper than it's normal (max: 45 degrees) that will be measured the Richer Scale at 10.0+ to higher (possible 14). Third, the Earth's North Pole will be changing toward its apporach Equator and its land and sea will be changing, too. The Greatest Earthquake will be coming on May 5, 2000 by our Solar System will has line as its angle is 180 degrees oppose our Earth & Moon from Sun, Mecury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, & Saturn.

A rip-roaring whirl of a ride . . .

This book takes us far beyond the gentle shaking that awakens many Californians in the early morning hours. Instead, it thrusts us into the catastrophic quaking that makes us fear for our lives and question everything we've ever been told to do when an earthquake strikes! The human stories are wonderful, and overall, I'd say, very simply, READ THIS BOOK!

A book for everyone who is wondering what it would be like!

Kevin Ready has written an intriguing, entralling and otherwise illuminating book about the mythical 'Big One' earthquake in Southern Califonia. An 8.5 'big one' is followed by numerous aftershocks, many are major earthquakes. Kevin gives us a spectrum of characters to help us appreciate the significance of these geologic events and the fragility of our created environment. This book will capture your imagination and hold it tightly to the end. Read & Enjoy
