Great Resource for Novice and Veteran Gardeners

I've had vegetable gardens off and on for many years, so I'm not a beginner but the basic skills focus of this book is very helpful to me if it's been awhile since I've tried to grow a particular vegetable -- or if I'm ready to add a new vegetable to my gardening portfolio. I'd guess that more gardeners than not will benefit by revisiting the fundamentals from time to time. This is the book for that. Rarely a day goes by in the summer that I don't open it. I'm buying a second copy for our new gardening shed...

Great how-to

The first book any new gardener should buy is Barbara Damrosch's "Garden Primer," because of its plant info -- but this runs a very, very close second because of it's emphasis on how-to. I love the clear, helpful presentation of skills and techniques, the great illustrations, and the wonderful lists and charts.
