Basketball player haunted by past & a life compromised.

This is a gem of a book. I accidently came across it in a neighborhood garage sale and my curiosity was immediately picqued. I have to confess I'm a basketball junkie. But don't let that put you off, even if you're not a psychotic "pill" fan. The book is brimming with life.It's the real deal. The sense the writer has of a small town and the desperate people that inhabit it is every bit as evocative and well drawn as anything you're likely to read this year... The book is about a pivotal week in the life of a semi-pro basketball player, Jake "Grizzly" Baer, playing his last season in a small steel town somewhere in the industrial Northeast.
